Mission, Vision, & Values
Who We Are
Breakthrough Birmingham works with highly motivated, traditionally under-represented students in Birmingham to achieve post-secondary success while also empowering aspiring leaders to become the next generation of educators and advocates.
We envision supporting robust transformational learning communities, where equitable access to excellent opportunities propels aspiring students on their path to college and aspiring teachers on their path to the classroom. Our scholars today will be the decision-makers in their communities tomorrow.
We are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community — one that represents but is not limited to: race, gender identity, class, ability status, citizenship status, sexual orientation, and religion. Our individual stories shape and define Breakthrough. They make us better for our students. We work to ensure that all identities — and particularly ones that have been marginalized — are represented and supported, both in who we staff and who we serve.
