Our work centers around the people we serve — middle and high school students, their families, our Teaching Fellows and our Thrive Teachers. We work with our local communities to create lasting change.
Our Scholars
Middle school students can enroll in an engaging, six-week Summer Program that prepares them for success in the upcoming school year. Our scholars continue to work with us through our School Year Program, readying them for college, careers and life after graduation.
Our Teaching Fellows
Breakthrough Birmingham recruits undergraduate students from across the Southeast and beyond to become Teaching Fellows. We train our Fellows to lead engaging classrooms and support them as they build relationships with their scholars.
Our Thrive Teachers
Breakthrough Birmingham’s Thrive Teacher Coaching program provides holistic professional development and support for new classroom teachers. This program aims to reduce burnout, resulting in fewer teachers leaving the profession.

We reverse education inequity by providing opportunities for our scholars to excel in the classroom today, in college and beyond.
