Our Team

Keyvontay “Mr. Tay” Berry serves as the Program Coordinator at Breakthrough Birmingham, where he leads the design and execution of school-year programming that keeps scholars connected, engaged, and supported until the summer program returns. Through scholar events, academic sessions, family engagement, and logistical coordination, Mr. Tay helps create transformational learning experiences rooted in equity, mentorship, and empowerment. A native of Flora, Mississippi, Mr. Tay came to Birmingham after being recruited to Samford University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and proudly graduated as an alumnus. His passion for community and leadership is grounded in his journey as a former Division I football player at Samford, with a brief stint in professional sports, and now as a firefighter serving the Birmingham area.
